Der 3A6 ist ein Zweikanal Verstärker Einschub passend z.B. in das 565 Oszilloskop, sowie andere 560 Serien, außer dem 560 selbst. Der EInschub hat die üblichen Umschalter für alternierenden oder Chopper Betrieb. Kanal 1 läßt sich invertieren. Die Vertikalkalibrierung läßt sich sehr bequem und rasch von der Vorderseite einstellen.

Der Verstärker ist nach meinem Empfinden recht rauscharm, es spielt kaum eine Rolle ob er nun auf 10V/DIV oder 10mV/DIV steht, der Strahl sieht immer gleich scharf aus. Die geringere Bandbreite ist in diesem Fall ein Vorteil. Der Verstärker ist aufgebaut aus PNP und NPN Transistoren kombiniert mit Röhren. Der Verstärker erschien irgendwann Größenordnung 1964/65, der gezeigte ist jedoch aus dem Jahr 1972.

From Instruction manual: "The Type 3A6 Dual-Trace Amplifier plug-in contains two identical amplifier channels. Either channel can be used independently for a single-trace display, or the two channels can be electronically switched for a dual-trace display. Also, the two channels can be added algebraically and the resultant, waveform displayed on the indicator unit crt.

A single delay line in the plug-in unit delays the signal to be displayed while the triggering signal passes to the time base undelayed. This allows the leading edge of the triggering signal to be viewed on the crt."

The Type 3A6 can be used with any of the Tektronix 560-Series Oscilloscopes, e.g. 565 oscilloscope (but don't work with Type 560 itself) or with the Tektronix Type 129 Plug-In Unit Power Supply. The amplifier is made with PNP and NPN transistors combined with tubes.

The beam looks sharp with every vertical deflection factor.
