24. Fastest Settling with Overshooting

Fast Setting with Overshooted Output.

It is possible to adjust the Ck Compensation in such a way that a minimum settling time can occurs, but this will have the disadvantage of a small overshooted output.

Full Scale Step 0V to +10V Unipolar Mode, DAC xxxx with amplifier xxxx:

Left Photo, compensation capacitor adjusted for an aperiodic response - Settling Time 2.1µs
Right Photo, compensation capacitor adjusted for the minimal possible settling time - Settling Time 1.7µs

Full Scale Step 0V to -10V Unipolar Mode, DAC xxxx with amplifier xxxx:

Left Photo, compensation capacitor adjusted for an aperiodic response - Settling Time 1.9µs
Right Photo, compensation capacitor adjusted for the minimal possible settling time - Settling Time 1.8µs

It's a little tricky to find the adjustment for the 1.7µs and 1.8µs settling. A few very low ringing periods occuring, a fine tuning procedure between Ck and the window delay. When adjusting Ck in the overshoot mode you have to be sure that your settings found the "right numbers of ringing waves". When adjusting Ck in the aperiodic mode you have to be sure that there is "no ringing wave" at all.
